The Campaign for Free College Tuition realizes that now is a time when elected officials and future candidates are focused on ensuring the safety and health of their families and their supporters. That is as it should be. But we also know that the country will get through this current crisis and will be looking for leaders with good ideas on how to help people rebuild their lives when the crisis eases.
In anticipation of that happening, hopefully sooner rather than later, we just released our candidate guidebook, Free Tuition for the Win: How Candidates Can Run and Win on Free College Tuition in 2020.
Free Tuition for the Win is a non-partisan guide for candidates running for state elected office that incorporate the input and feedback of candidates, campaign managers, experts in higher education policy, students, and more. It is the perfect primer for candidate who are interested in (or considering) adding free college tuition to their campaign platform.
Since more than 75 percent of Americans support the idea of state’s providing free college tuition, including majorities of Republicans, Democrats and Independents, it is a uniquely positioned idea for candidates seeking to unite their state or community while providing real hope to those looking for answers in the coming months. Our guidebook provides all the information needed to help communicate the benefits of a state free college program to prospective constituents – including polling details, insights from elected officials around the nation, answers to tough questions, and a simple five step process for the candidate to build his or her own plan.
While CFCT will be sending Free Tuition for the Win directly to hundreds of elected officials, we are a grassroots non-profit that cannot do this alone. We need your help to get out the word!
